Metrolina Antique & Vintage Tradeshow

Metrolina Antique & Vintage Tradeshow was a success!

Vendors come from all over which gives all of us an opportunity to meet amazing people and shop.

One of the things I was looking for was a Vintage Underwood Typewriter. I knew it would make for a great display piece sooo…I sent my husband out hunting for me while I manned the booth.  He didn’t come back with the Underwood but rather this gorgeous “flatbed” Royal Standard from the early 1900s. He did good!

I love it… lettering & color is perfect

I also met two creative souls …Refunked Junkies…and purchased a vintage typewriter key bracelet.  Shop owners Brandon and Emilee handpicked the vintage typewriter keys knowing that I wanted them to look worn.

I had never seen a “Floating Shift” key…love it!

The hunt was not all typewriters and keys with this unique find.

This is the top to an early 1900s oil tank with the numbers “250” indicating its capacity.  Its original paint and stunning patina excited us but disappointed show goers when we had to break it to them that this piece was not for sale.  It was earmarked as the range hood for our kitchen renovation.

The numbers “250” is our area code back home on Vancouver Island… so we felt this was one of those “meant to be” pieces.

In a side note… our new booth at The Depot opened Nov 1st … the oil tank didn’t fit its intended purpose at the house and I needed a statement piece so I felt the oil tank was perfect!   For anyone shopping for a Farmhouse this would be awesome.

If you live in the area, you’ll find it for sale in our antique booth at

The Depot at Gibson Mill Concord, North Carolina.

The biggest pick of the weekend…furniture carts or as some people refer to them as factory carts.

Distressed white Furniture Cart

I wanted to try something new this time around and left the sides of the furniture cart untouched and sanded down the top and gave the boards a light coat of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White.

Light distressing lets the color from underneath shine through giving the furniture cart an old worn look.

All this shopping was done on set up day.

I ran around like a crazy lady looking for vintage/antique items for our booths and on-line shop.  Once the show kicks off  I don’t stray far from my booth.

As exhausting as a five-day show can be you also meet amazing people.  Friendships are formed with your neighbors that look over your space so you can beeline it to the bathroom or get your morning coffee.  Shoppers come from all over and if your lucky enough you get to know them and their story.
