Vintage Double Basin Galvanized Washtub

Vintage Double Basin Galvanized Washtub

With Spring in the air I have added a little rustic garden charm to my booth.

Over the last month I have been on a search for rustic pieces with beautiful patina or chippy paint..especially robin egg blue.  I wanted pieces that could be used in a house with a potted plant or that would provide a statement piece in the garden.

I have been kicking myself for several weeks after I passed on a vintage double basin galvanized washtub in mint condition at an auction…the bidding soared and I got cold feet.  So I was thrilled when I crossed paths with the same washtub…granted…a tad more rustic…but with a price I could not pass up.

I had fun playing with my display before the tub headed to my booth.

There is a feeling of farm life when I look at this picture

It is a feeling of simplicity

with thoughts of old country roads, barns, cattle grazing, and yard sales.

I’m often asked about my style…a question which I could not answer definitively.  While most would say my booth is rustic, industrial, farmhouse….I find that some of my greatest inspiration comes from people who are not quite like me…like shabby chic blogs full of color.

I would say it’s a feeling more than anything…listening to my gut(my heart)…

Now, that’s not to say that I always get it right… I often learn as I go… all the while keeping in mind something I recently heard Keith Urban say(yes I watch American Idol)

“there is no soul in perfection

It was as if his words were meant for me to hear…from my own personal style…messy hair, ripped jeans, second-hand finds.

I often wonder if I am drawn to vintage decor because of the numerous imperfections.  History is etched into each piece.   The “junk” some would toss for lack of perfection…makes me smile… soul and a story comes from imperfection.

Kindly

Jane
