Lavender Love Affair

My week is a bit out of sorts with the interior of our home finally getting painted.  With everything moved and off the walls I decided to enjoy the morning air and snap a few pictures of items headed to my booth.

I love mornings on the farm, birds chirping, cows grazing, coffee, and my camera.

So today…I was set to go to my booth after taking my pictures and decided I needed to stay in the moment and write my post.  I took a deep breath and allowed myself the time to enjoy taking my photos…enjoy time spent with all of you!

If you had told me I’d be drying bundles of lavender, separating them and wrapping them with jute twine ….and enjoying their delicate simplicity, I’d have thought you were “off your rocker.”  You see, the fact is, I never gave lavender much thought until I opened my antique booth.

My mom always had lavender in the house when I was a kid but I never really enjoyed it.

I could never seem to figure out whether I liked the smell or not…Was it musty?…Was it pretty?

However, time has a way of changing things and now…I adore it.

A few sprigs was all that was needed to liven up an old bottle carrier.

Dried lavender is a great option for displays.  Fresh flowers are often expensive and hard to maintain in a booth.  Which is why dried flowers seem like such a natural fit.

The little buds are delicate.

They tend to make a little mess… or a pretty picture 😉

As far as my home goes I still love real flowers as a treat.  Our local Farmer’s Market has gorgeous flowers for a great price and when I get the opportunity to hit the market with my husband I always pick out a pink bouquet.  The pop of color on our kitchen table captures my heart every time.

I hope you have a great week…take time to enjoy something you love,

kindly

Jane
