Vintage Olive Baskets

Vintage Olive Bucket

Rusty Olive Baskets always seem to find their way into my home and shop.  I figure it’s the rusty metal that appeals to me.

Anyone who loves to look for rustic, vintage, home decor also knows that when you come across a piece that can be used in more ways than one in your home it’s something sought after.

I prefer olive baskets in their original state with just the right amount of rust in all the right spots.

You may think this is funny, but come junkin with me and you’ll see.  Like a girl trying to pick out one pair of anything, I take forever!  It is a process. Narrowing down a stack of fifty olive baskets to a mere three.  Standing back, turning them around, checking the bottoms all in an effort to find the  one that is “just right.”

Due to their age, each olive basket is unique with its own set of dents and rust and thus the reason to take the time and hand-pick the ones to cart home.

Vintage Olive Bucket for Fall

Beautiful Contrast for Fall

Though it has not felt like Fall in North Carolina, the leaves are still changing color and my porch is turning into a haystack!  If it’s not antiques loaded up to the top..it’s finding a way to stuff a 6ft corn-stalk in my small car.

I believe the pumpkin patch is my fav…perfect for an entryway.

Here’s a twist…the beauty of an Olive Basket is that it is versatile!

Fill it up with paper towel, toilet paper, magazines, or it would look gorgeous filled with wood beside your fireplace.

If you’re really motivated you can turn it into an Industrial light!  Those slat openings that once allowed olives to breathe allow just the right amount of light.

The patina that has come with age is perfect

So for me, I keep it simple

Rusty flower magnet found at a flea market is the right amount of embellishment. Burlap bows, jute twine, old tea stained fabric also add an extra touch.

The character of these wonderful baskets tells its own unique story.  It’s hard to believe that these vintage baskets once carried olives!

    • Hi Donna,

Thank-you! I have never considered shipping due to the size(16wide/17high/15high not including the handles). I sell them in my shop for $57.95plus tax. Where are you located?
