Vintage Metal Cattle Tags

Vintage Cow Tags

If you follow my blog you know I have an affinity for our neighbors.  Around twenty black and white cows visit us daily hoping for handouts of carrots or grass clippings.  They have become my welcome wagon every time I step outside…brightening each day.

So when I came across vintage cattle tags my eyes lit up and I knew I had to have them.

Each tag is unique in color, shape, with its own number etched into both sides.  The patina speaks to the long summer days and cold wintry evenings they have endured.

For some reason I was drawn to the tag etched with the number “85.”  I think it’s the way the number’s black paint has chipped away.

I feel like it would be a shame to put these to rest.  So I thought up a few ways that you could put them back to work… added to a vintage locker basket, glass bottle or mason jar.  They would also look great as a door knock.

If you’re interested in a cattle tag I have listed the number “85” in my Etsy shop.

Speaking of cattle tags..I’m getting ready for a June show.  I’ve always had an eclectic style and pretty much wing it when it comes to shows.  This time I hope to have a “Farmhouse” feel to my booth.

For me it’s not just about home decor…I love living in the country surrounded by animals.  My husband no longer knows whether or not to take me seriously….I told him we may need to rescue an old cow one day!  I’m just sayin 🙂

Kindly

Jane
