Working With a Mentor

Have you ever worked with or considered working with a mentor?

When I opened my small business I never thought about it, but as my business evolved I knew I needed support.

While support can come from all areas of your life…family and friends…. an outside opinion is worth it’s weight in gold.

I started to search and was fortunate to cross paths with Kim Klassen.

She was someone I had admired from afar.

I had signed up to a few of her online photography classes and finally took a leap of faith and purchased her mentor package.

My intention was to learn photography.

I had no idea that we would spend so much time talking about business ideas.

Through those conversations I started to put fear in the back seat…quiet the online noise and listened to my heart.

Slowly things unfolded and my dream of becoming a creative photographer took flight.

That does not mean I set aside my passion for vintage.

It was vintage that I wanted to photograph.

Like most things it unfolded as it should.

I never imagined I would receive emails asking me to submit my photos to magazines.

I feel blessed to have been published by magazines that I love.

Artful Blogging, Somerset Life, and Bella Grace.

Vintage Flea Market Finds for photo styling.

Part of the reason I think this happened is because I let go of the numbers on social media.

Instead, I focused on my creativity and learning.

While social media plays a huge part in people finding our small businesses it is not the only part.

I knew if I did not do the work…I would only have numbers.

So slowly I have grown thanks to all of you💗

My idea behind sharing my journey is that you may see yourself in me.

Maybe you feel lost in your direction or you need someone to listen.

I know that it can be hard to see others that seem to have it all figured out.

Earnings in the six figures when most of us are just trying to figure out how to earn our first five hundred!

I’ve been there and understand your frustration.

My advice is to seek out someone who is where you want to be.

Or inspires you!

Kindly, xo

Jane
