Why I Don’t Change My Decor

My Flea Market Style

I have never considered myself a designer and shopping is one of my least favorite things to do unless it’s a flea market!

It wasn’t until recently that I posted a few photos of our home on Instagram and

several of you mentioned that you enjoyed seeing it.

Over the last several years we have slowly renovated the entire house and I rarely change our decor!

Our home is made up of stories & treasures.

I have a soft spot for all of them and they usually weigh a ton so moving them around is not the easiest!

For this big antique farm sign we have a long piece of wood that is attached to the wall to help secure it due to its weight.

Awhile back I wrote a post about our kitchen renovation and our DIY kitchen Island.

We toted our beautiful Kohler farmhouse sink and faucet around for years.

So nice to finally give them a home besides the garage.

My husband built our kitchen island using an antique shipping crate, hundred year old wood for the trim, and bead board from the historic society.

It took four guys just to bring it in!

Our old porcelain street sign was so heavy that we had to open the wall to reinforce the beams.

The street sign sits atop a heavy iron bracket that once held an antique street light in Ohio.

Our coffee bar has been reimagined from an old washing machine.

My husband knew that I didn’t want the microwave on the counter and so he came up with the perfect solution.

You know us junkers…we just happened to have the washer in the yard!

He took all the bits out, cleaned and sealed it and added the top.

The top is also no ordinary top.

You see…when we bought our table it was to large for us.

We’re just a family of three…one being our fur baby Madison!

My hubby took one side of the table apart and cut off about four feet…thankfully keeping the piece he cut off.

The sign above Madison says “Madisonville” and it’s out of a small town in Ohio.

The perfect fit for her lookout.

This shiplap wall was once a wall of faux rock and dark trim when we moved in.

It was a messy job removing the rock, but worth every ounce of dust.

You may just see a comfy white slipcover couch at some point and new blinds…but I have also been talking about that for a year.

We have replaced several interior doors with antique doors, but I knew I wanted a large sliding barn door for our master bath.

It was an easy DIY and it matches our headboard that we built years ago.

One of our favorite places to visit each year is Charleston.

This sign greets me every morning evoking such wonderful memories.

Our tub is a favorite of mine with the pretty freestanding telephone style faucet.

Slowly we have made our house a home and if it’s not from a flea market it definitely came with a discount.

Something about us junkers…we love making our house a home while saving money.
